Witchazel tonic 100ml

Hamamelis virginiana is a well-known plant (large shrub or occasionally a tree) that is believed to originate from North America. It is now very popular as an ornamental plant and can be found in gardens all over the world. Historically, Hamamelis was initially used as an herb by the Native American tribes of North America. Its use mainly included the treatment of eye infections and the management of insect bites, hemorrhoids, dysentery, and skin diseases. Hamamelis became known for its properties from 1848 onwards when the American Theron T. Pond "commercialized" the extract based on the knowledge he gained from the Oneida tribe Indians.

Witchazel tonic is the pure, distilled water produced by the distillation of the leaves and twigs of the Hamamelis Virginia plant. Witchazel tonic is a powerful anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and astringent. It is the tonic that should be in every first aid kit for sunburns or simple burns, scratches, or cuts. Due to its astringent properties, it is also ideal for acne, psoriasis, eczema, and blisters by tightening and cleansing the skin pores. At the same time, its antiseptic use makes it suitable for insect bites, varicose veins, and hemorrhoids. It is often used replacing distilled water in lotions, creams, and toners.

In modern herbal therapy, Hamamelis is mainly used externally in the form of compresses. It is considered particularly effective in treating hemorrhoids and phlebitis, while also as an ocular rinse, it is believed to effectively treat eye infections and conjunctivitis. In general, Hamamelis is considered very good for treating bleeding.

The action of Hamamelis is considered to be due to the fact that it shrinks blood vessels and restores them to their normal size. According to Herbalists, preparing a compress is very simple. Place the Witchazel tonic on a cotton cloth, or if you have the herb, place some of the herb inside a pot, cover with water, and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Strain the herb and dip a clean cloth (towel, gauze, etc.) into the infusion. Place the cloth on the skin (while warm). Alternatively, you can make a poultice by wrapping the herb you have boiled in a gauze and securing it on the body.
