Sweet Anise is the most aromatic herb with enormous therapeutic properties, mainly known for its aphrodisiac action as well as its huge positive impact on our digestive system.

It is a plant native to Greece, Southeast Asia, and the Mediterranean. It is used in pastry and baking, but its most famous and successful use was in distillation.

In what form do we find it?

It is available in two forms: as seeds and ground into powder. We prefer the seeds, which we grind in a mill or crush in a mortar for a more intense aroma. We can also leave them whole, especially if we put them in bread - when chewed, they will break, releasing their aroma. It is used in food as a flavoring agent. It has a sweet, aromatic taste similar to black licorice.

Ways of use:

* As an infusion, it is used for stomach problems. Boil a teaspoon of anise leaves and seeds in a cup of water. Strain and drink.

* For colic, boil a teaspoon of seeds in a glass of milk for 10 minutes.

* By boiling dried sweet anise fruits in water, we can prepare an infusion that serves as a mild laxative.

* As a decoction. A spoonful of crushed seeds in a cup of boiling water. Let it cool for 10 minutes, strain, and drink.

* For insomnia, drink milk with a spoonful of crushed anise seeds.
